Imagine a home that overlooks the awesome mountains of Colorado. Such a home was designed by Studio H.T. It actually uses two shipping containers with a taller building in between them. The home is splendid, playing with light shades of wood (in the exterior shipping vans) and dark wood (in the central edifice). The play on height also reflects the variations in the mountain elevations.
The shipping container home uses thermal and solar photovoltaic systems and the home owner uses on-site renewable heat sources (wood is used and burned in a highly efficient wood stove). Any wood that is used for heat is chosen carefully with sustainability in mind.
The center structure of the amazing container home is the living and dining area. A loft deck has a rolling platform bed for outdoor sleeping. There is also a green roof to enhance the efficient use of rain water.
